On June 27, the exhibition “MAGIC SEVEN-PETAL FLOWER” Our one and only Vladik Mamyshev-Monroe Korolevich” will be opened in the gallery “Zdes na Taganke” of Moscow City Galleries Network.
The exhibition is a memory dedicated to one of the brightest Russian artists Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe. Vladislav left a huge artistic legacy, but lived a tragically short life. The most productive period of his work coincided with the era of the formation of a new post-Soviet Russia and, like no other, he was able to express the character of this era in his artistic reincarnations. Their spectrum ranged from real characters to literary heroes, from writers and artists to politicians and pop stars.
The circle of people in whose life Vladislav left an unforgettable mark is incredibly wide. The exhibition presents unique photographs, reproductions, archival photographs and video materials, paintings, personal belongings from private collections, many of which will be shown for the first time.
All items presented at the exhibition are assembled into a kind of puzzle, where individual elements complement and explain, but do not repeat each other. Moreover, this puzzle represents not only the true story of the life and work of Mamyshev-Monroe, but also accurately, in detail, describes the artistic atmosphere of Moscow and St. Petersburg during one of the most exciting periods for the art of the two capitals, from the late 1980’s to the early 2000’s.
Opening: June 26, 19:00.
